Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom and Microsoft signed a letter of intent on May 15 to form a strategic alliance and collaborate on developing broadband television services in Taiwan as well as offering telecom services targeting cross-strait small and medium-sized businesses. The alliance will focus its efforts on the areas of digital life, mobile value-added services, Web applications, IPTV (Internet Protocol Television), VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), and audio-video multimedia services.
